Hello fellow sketchbookers,
I hope this newsletter finds you well. The Spring weather is just glorious at the moment, and I am so happy to be coming out of the depths of Winter, seeing all the new life bursting forth!
Plein Air Project - Week 31
This week, I have been treated to some more Spring sunshine and couldn't resist sketching the Hazel leaves that are starting to come out. There is something breathtaking about the fresh green illuminated by sunlight. I kept it simple, using a Pitt Oil Pencil for the lines and water-soluble pencils for color. I believe I captured that cool spring feeling in the sky and the vibrant green of the leaves. It has been lovely to sketch this hazel again, especially after drawing it a few weeks ago when the catkins were out in force!
Sketching with my Mum
Mum and I have been sketching together roughly every week since January. It's such a lovely passion to share. This week, we were able to sit out in her garden and sketch—a delightful treat after all our indoor sketching sessions!
Sketchbook Tour
Last week, I promised to share a tour of a recently completed sketchbook, so here it is! This sketchbook was started during my holiday in Portugal back in October last year and finished earlier this month. It's a Stillman and Birn Epsilon sketchbook in their pocket size. I absolutely love Stillman and Birn—their paper takes ink, pencil, and watercolor beautifully. I hope you enjoy looking through it with me!
Until next week,
Emma x
