The Revolve Project: Week 7 Update
Hello everyone!
This week marks the seventh installment of my year-long Plein Air sketching journey. Each week, I'll share a new outdoor sketch as part of the 'Revolve Project' - a 52-week artistic adventure culminating in a group exhibition next year. Join me as I capture the ever-changing views on my farm, one sketch at a time.
This Week's Sketch: Another sunny day!
Location: A shaded spot between Moonslade and 14 Acres meadows, overlooking our bird-friendly crop field.
Highlights:
Perfect weather: Sunny and calm
Eastward view of the evolving seed crop field
Autumn colors: The field has transitioned to a soft, faded yellow
New Tool Spotlight: Viewfinder
I've added a viewfinder to my plein air kit. This simple yet effective tool is helping me tackle one of my biggest challenges - composing overwhelming scenes. It's compact, fitting neatly into my pencil case, and more durable than DIY cardboard alternatives.
My Week 7 Video
Without further ado, here is the video for this week’s sketch. I am really enjoying the challenge of filming and editing these each week. Hoping my videography will improve over the course of the 52 weeks, as well as my Plein Air sketching - it’s like two projects in one!
Emma Cavill Sketches is a reader-supported publication. To receive new posts and support my work, consider becoming a free or paid subscriber.
That’s all for this week’s Revolve update. I am looking forward to sharing week 8 with you next Wednesday, which I need to actually do today or tomorrow - I will check the weather forecast and see what the best option is!
Happy sketching!

P.S. Do you sketch outside on location? Do you have any tips for me?
