Hello wonderful readers,
Welcome to this week's update! I hope this newsletter finds you well and ready to dive into some new sketches and musings.
Sketching Adventures
I am still catching up with my Revolve project but have been out few times over the past few days. I sketched the Dutch Barn on our farm in monotone using some new Pentel pigment brush pens. I enjoyed the limitation of these tools and they suited the grey drab day.

The sun shone later in the week so I ventured into the garden with a coffee and my sketching tools to capture the daffodils and primroses on display right now. It was lovely to splash some loose lines and colour over the page!

Yesterday, I took my sketch kit and camping stool with me on my walk. It was a beautiful day but had a very chilly northerly wind, so I hunkered down in a corner of a sheltered field to draw the gorgeous view from there. I used to feel overwhelmed by this kind of scene, but now I just relax and enjoy the challenge of capturing what I see, without worrying too much about the end result. I know I am restricted by time and materials, and this seems to give me permission to just enjoy the process! Liberating!

Getting Back Into the Creative Habit
I've also been making an effort to get back into sketching after what feels like another creative lull. Sometimes the business of life can take over and my sketching habit takes a back seat, and while that is normal and OK, it is also important to remember how good sketching is for my general sanity, as it always calms my racing mind, so I should make the time and not feel guilty about it.
Here are a few sketches from this week, just for fun in my sketchbook!

I'd love to hear about your own creative practices and how you balance them with the demands of everyday life. Have you found any particular techniques or routines that help you maintain your creative habits? Drop a comment below to share your thoughts!
Coming Up Next
Next week, I'll be sharing a sketchbook tour as I have recently finished not one, but two sketchbooks! I thought it would be nice to slip through them with you :)
Final Thoughts
As we move into another beautiful spring season, I'm reminded of how nature's renewal can inspire our own creative rebirth - I am chomping at the bit to start up a dedicated sketchbook for a nature journal! Thank you for being part of this journey with me.
Until next week, Emma x
