Dear Readers,
Welcome to week 17 of my year long Revolve project!
Storm Darragh transformed the farm into a soggy landscape this week, rendering the fields too muddy for my usual outdoor sketching. So I decided to shift my focus to the farmyard, turning the inconvenience of muddy fields into an opportunity for an architectural study.
The day was incredibly grey, which I wanted to reflect in the sketch, so instead of reaching for my usual vibrant watercolours, I chose only my ArtGraf, a pencil, a waterbrush and a fountain pen. There's something liberating about keeping things minimal: fewer materials mean fewer decisions, allowing for a more spontaneous creative process.
I am still refining my set up, and it still feels fiddly - especially trying to film at the same time! However, seeing my collection of weekly sketches mounting up is really gratifying - I am wondering what I can do with them all once I have completed the year. Perhaps I can make a zine, or take some of my favourites and produce some lino or woodblock prints. Some further work could definitely come from this :)
That’s it for this week - sorry it’s later than my usual midweek post! Hopefully back on schedule this coming week :)
