Dear Readers,
Welcome to another edition of my weekly Revolve project update!
This week, the weather greeted me with sunshine—but don't be fooled. A sharp, northerly wind cut through the air, reminding me that winter is well and truly here. Gone are the leisurely late summer and early autumn days when I would take my time selecting the perfect sketching location. Now, my approach has become more... shall we say, strategic?
My fingerless gloves have become an essential accessory. They allow just enough dexterity to capture the scene quickly, while providing a thin barrier against the biting cold. Where I once would spend hours wandering and contemplating my composition, I now find myself working with a newfound efficiency. Sketch, paint, done—all before my fingers can protest too loudly!
The cold has started to transform my process. It's teaching me spontaneity, decisiveness, and the art of capturing a scene with swift, deliberate strokes. There's something invigorating about working as quickly as possible before you get too cold to think, let alone paint!
This week's sketch is a testament to that—a quick capture of a moment:
I hope this snapshot brings a bit of that chilly, vibrant morning to your day. Stay warm, stay inspired, and keep creating!
Warmly (or should I say, as warmly as possible),
Emma x
P.S. How do changing seasons influence your creative work? I'd love to hear your stories in the comments!
